Your website sucks, now what?
Feedia receive website and marketing enquiries from a range of businesses with diverse industry backgrounds and sizes.
We find that some small to medium enterprises contact us to explain that they have trouble understanding why their website isn't working wonders.
've quickly put together five very general questions to help explain the situation.
- Do you remember the last time you updated your content?
- Do you remember the last time you even went to your website?
- Do you have any idea of how many people actually type in your domain, or view the site?
- Is your company email account the same extension of your domain/website?
- Do you have a database of clients and prospects that you email information to?
If you answered "NO" to one or more of the following, we need to have a serious talk!
This article will highlight some effective ways to generate prospects and new business via your website and electronic marketing.
Feel free to comment, or share your experiences when implementing these simple methods.
Maintenance
Make time each day/week to visit, maintain and update your website.
Campaigns
If you have a "news/blog" feature on your website, use it!
Domain Names
Ensure that you register similar domain names and redirect them to your primary domain name.
Ensure that people who type in the address wrong can find you, and that your competitors can't purchase the domain and redirect the to their website.
N.B: The shorter the domain name, the better. (The more letters they need to remember, the more chances of incorrect spelling, and forgetting)
Reporting
Have your IT or Web Agency install some analytic reporting software to your website, so that you can track who clicks on what, how many times and when.
Incentives
Offer an incentive for your current clients to mention, forward or refer to your website. It could be a competition, a discount to your services or campaign.
Social Media (SoME)
Promoting your services on Social Media (SoMe) platforms should be focused and strategic, an open discussion and consistent. e.g.. Using Twitter to link to your specials each Wednesday morning will give your campaign a sense of exclusivity and urgency. It will also prompt people to take the time to view your website/profile on a regular and consistent basis.
