Seeing a different Cider to Facebook

Seeing a different Cider to Facebook

Why would your business want to be on facebook?

Well, here's an example of why the Brewers of Tooheys Extra Dry have a dedicated and controlled page for their brand, 5 seeds.

5 Seeds is an apple cider. Along with Point of Sale, billboard advertising and Television Commercials, they have promoted only their facebook URL. www.facebook.com/5Seeds.

When publishing this article, they had 6,959 people LIKE their 5 Seeds page.

Features on the page include games, commercial videos, additional information, surveys, competitions and more. From their facebook page, you can also Tweet and share this page and information with friends who aren't even on facebook.

Based on their demographic, they have effectively used the facebook platform for their branding campaign. Did it work for you?

I personally believe that the reasons why you would want to become a FAN of a page is:

  • To show your friends what you're into.
  • That you want to connect and network with like minded people, and
  • To be notified officially and informally by the company and your friends.

Do you have a Fan page? What are your thoughts?

Engaging with your fan base on Facebook and Twitter is also a cost effective way to instantly gauge and respond to your market.

The bottle neck *excuse the pun* or reasons why businesses fail with social media, is because they are not listening or responding to their audience and are not updating or interacting with them. With an instant platform, your customers are going to want information delivered to them straight away.

My suggestion, dedicate a staff member or a contractor to manage your Facebook marketing.
If you contract this position, ensure it's someone dedicated to your brand. eg. PR agency, Web Agency, Business Owner, Marketing Manger.

Below, is an example of 5 Seeds engaging with their audience.
"Would you like to see 5 Seeds branch out in to other flavours other than apple? Hit us with your suggestions"

63 commented later… they have successfully targeted a new market and addressed questions and answers to interested fans.

If you own a restaurant, wouldn't this be a great way to gauge suggestions for menu development? feedback on current menu options? Food and Drink suggestions? Sourcing new staff?

Are you a retailer? Wouldn't it be wise to ask what products your customers want you to stock? colours? sizes?

We're all in business to generate sales, and that's what those questions do. Maybe this is why there is now a DEDICATED SHOPPING CART for Facebook?!
